Times Higher Education, the leading provider of data for research based institutions of higher education, has just published in this month their latest World University Ranking 2018, which feature a total of 29 Spanish universities (two more from the previous edition last year). It is the only global ranking developed by an independent consultant (PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC)) which takes into account 13 performance indicators in five areas: teaching, research, publications, international orientation, and knowledge transfer.
As for the results of the rankings obtained by Spanish universities, the leading spot is given to the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, ranked at 140, followed by the UniversitatAutónoma de Barcelona in position 147, Universitat de Barcelona (201-250 ), Universidad de Navarra (301-350) and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (351-400). These are the the top five Spanish Universities in a ranking that analyzes a total of 800 universities around the world.
In regards to the overall ranking, two British universities, Oxford University and Cambridge University, occupy the first two positions for the first time since the creation of the World University Ranking. The podium is finalized bu the California Institute of Technology (USA).
