Last 8th, 9th, and 10th of June the 22nd edition of the EUNIS Congress was celebrated in Greece for first time. The city of Thessaloniki, hosted the event of 2016, which gathered more than 270 professionals in management, development and regulations of IT for Higher Education. The event was organized by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the biggest university in Greece.
Though the beginning of the conference was scheduled for the 8th of June, the first session of European universities CIOs took place the day before. The CIOs –more than 25 from different universities- stressed the need of laying the foundation for future plans and cooperation between the Higher Education institutions in Europe.
On the 2nd day of the congress, our colleague Jordi Cuní had the opportunity to present our SaaS model in one of the sessions about ICT infrastructure. The SaaS model (Software as a Service) which SIGMA started in 2011 with the implementation at the Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS), followed by many more institutions to the point of being set nowadays in 17 schools and managing over 40.000 enrolments per year. Once tested the functionality of the model, the next step will be the incorporation of the model in Cloud.
Finally, from SIGMA we want to congratulate the organizers of the event for their fantastic job. The next EUNIS Congress will be in the German city of Münster.
