Status of Spanish universities in the QS World Ranking
QS World University Rankings is an entity that is responsible for studying and providing rankings of worldwide universities since 2004.
Among others, this institution prepares the TOP50 ranking UNDER 50, which refers to the top 50 universities with less than 50 years of existence. Only 4 Spanish universities appear in this ranking, all of them part of the consortium SIGMA. Among these Spanish universities we can find the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona at position 11, the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid in the 15th, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in the 25th and the Universidad Carlos III of Madrid, which is ranked 47.
In the TOP700 ranking the American and British Universities stand out; being the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University and University of Cambridge the 3 universities better ranked. Fourteen Spanish universities are also included in this global ranking, including 5 of the SIGMA group -the four listed above plus the Universidad de Zaragoza-.
Noting these rankings we can see that the clustering SIGMA Universities has a good reputation in the field of global higher education.
