SIGMA has participated on 11 and 12 April in the Conference of RUEPEP 2013. The theme of the meeting was “Strategies and Partnerships for the Future of Lifelong Learning” and wanted to highlight the need to open the way to work to the collaboration between universities and institutions to share objectives.
In the exhibitions, was highlighted the need for rapprochement between the University masters and own masters, the theme of the amounts and the competitiveness between universities and the relationship with the private universities where there is a 20% of students from university masters.
We talked about the qualification of the jobs, noting that in 2020, only the 15% will be unskilled and the rest will be skilled jobs where the university has a responsibility to train. Therefore, it should define more flexible learning paths to attract students who will become multigenerational and multicultural.
People talked about the economic situation of the postgraduate and the rapidity of change of scenario, for example, the proportion of students older than 30 years has increase and must be considered. The recipe is the flexibility and the principle of equity must be achieved, which no one is left of the university funding.
There was a presentation on open course, MOOCs, where its short history and its predecessors back in 2008 was explained (David Wiley, George Siemens and Stephen Downes) to demonstrate a theory with provocative content and for students to interact and how in 2011 Sebastian Trun and Peter Norvig did an artificial intelligence course in which 160,000 people was enrolled and 20,000 completed the course. In 2012, began Coursera, Udacity and Edx. In 2013 it popularized the MOOCs and their future hypothesis.
Subsequently, a workshop took place where several groups analyze the main problem and scenarios of the Lifelong Learning and some proposals were presented.
Finally new sessions were conducted where it was said that the university should provide students the necessary level to compete with students from other countries in equal conditions. We also talked about the problems with ANECA and the certifications and differences between the rate of the university and beyond.
Finally, we presented successful cases of collaborations between universities- enterprise, and the relationship exist with success even need to increase.
