SIGMA AIE offers Saas Moodle to Pere Tarrés Foundation
This new academic year 2013-14, SIGMA AIE offers to Pere Tarrés Foundation the Moodle learning platform, integrated with academic management system for teachers in Software as a Service (SaaS).
With this new service, SIGMA AIE offers to different institutions such as universities and schools the possibility to access to academic management solutions from SIGMA SIS (Student Information System) to impart the teaching institution , as is the Moodle platform through corporate tools. That permits to integrate both environments and maximize the information contained in academic management system in an efficient and practical way for both, the teacher and the learner.
This integration automatically ensures the creation of Moodle courses from the groups defined in the syllabus and the assignment of teachers. Furthermore, during the official registration period, students remain enrolled in their respective courses in the academic management system and this information is also transferred to Moodle, thanks to that, once the enrollment periods are completed, all courses created with their assigned teachers and all students enrolled are available in the Moodle.
At the teacher's Moodle session there are a series of utilities that allow the teacher to interact with academic management application directly from Moodle, with not need to open another session. These utilities allow:
• Class List Inquiry
• Check the student's record.
• Enter qualifications in SIGMA
• Transferring final records
In addition we have developed a component of particular importance that allows the teacher to transfer the grades recorded in Moodle directly to SIGMA SIS, which permits to save time and limit the errors that typically occurs when transcribing information form one system to another.
At the beginning of the Academic Year, on Friday September 13, the new Virtual Campus was presented to the students of the Pere Tarrés Foundation. From Tuesday 17, several workshops have been organized workshops in order to facilitate the knowledge of this system that is being improving learning and communication between students and faculties.
