Implementation of MetaGroups at UAM

New tool to manage virtual classrooms

UAM MoodleAula15

Since late last year the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid has a new tool for managing virtual classrooms called MetaGroups.

To date, the UAM faculty possessed a virtual classroom in Moodle for each group tuition which taught teaching. Even if this were correct in most cases, there are teachers who prefer to have some grouped classrooms, to avoid having to upload materials in duplicate.

With the new MetaGroups tools, the faculty may decide itself at its discretion and without leaving the Moodle environment itself join two or more virtual classrooms into one. Similarly, if a mid-year teacher decides he wants to separate again two groups may do so.

The only problem that could arise is what happens to those already hanging materials, but the tool provides these caseloads and increasingly grouped or ungrouped classrooms, both the materials uploaded by the teacher as deliveries of pupils are copied to the new classrooms, thus preventing information loss.

It has modified all other integration tools Moodle - SIGMA to contemplate this new functionality, tools like notes valued exported, that sends notes to the application SIGMA Moodle with only one button.

With these tools has gone a step further to unite academic teaching management in their day to day.
