Elsa Cardoso, leader of Business Intelligence Task Force of EUNIS, that SIGMA group is an active member, presented the BI maturity survey of European universities in the Terena Conference 2014 event.

The survey was developed based on the responses provided by a total of 66 universities from 9 countries, among which are several Spanish universities (including some of the SIGMA consortium). This is the first European survey that provides an assessment of the maturity of the increasingly important field of Business Intelligence in Higher Education Institutions.

Although the university sector has been slower than others to adopt the Business Intelligence strategy, the increasing pressure to which it is subjected (process optimization, reduction in income, improvements in governance, institutional transparency, international rankings, increased competitiveness...) has led universities to establish the implementation of these systems as one of its strategic projects. Certainly, the degree of maturity reached between BI tools has greatly facilitated the process.
