After obtaining 62.6% of the votes, the professor of Philosophy Jaume Casals has been the winner of the election of chancellor of Universitat Pompeu Fabra, SIGMA’s partner. The total registered participation was 24.97% which means the voter turnout has been the highest of the decade.
With this result, Jaume Casals revalidates his mandate and continues as the chancellor of the UPF for 4 more years. Professor Josep-Eladi Baños, the second candidate, obtained 37.4% of the votes. Casals has gained the majority of his support among faculty and postgraduate students, while Baños has gained more support among undergraduate students and management and service staff.
The chancellor elections have taken place from the 30th of March until the 4th of April. Next Friday, 7th of April, the Electoral Board will officially proclaim Jaume Casals as the elected candidate.
