Yesterday, May 24th, took place the second round of the dean election for the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Rafael Garesse, professor at Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Faculty of medicine), won the election with 50,7% of the votes for the 49,2% of the votes obtained by the other candidate, Juan Damián Moreno, professor at Procedural Law.
The main goals expressed by the new dean of UAM during his campaign are " generate, preserve and transmit quality knowledge while keeping the values to reinforce the environment preservation, people's health and a bet for the future: consolidate the UAM as the leader in the Spanish University System".
The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid has a census of around 32.000 people between students, professors and clerical staff. The lection is done by universal suffrage where the vote is free and secret.
