Last 10th of March, The Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI), presented the 6th world report: Higher Education in the World “Towards Socially Responsible Universities: Balancing the Global with the Local”.GUNI is an international network formed by 210 universities and higher education centers of 78 countries. It has the support od UNESCO, UN University and l'ACUP to encourage the debate about the role that higher education has on the emerging problems
This edition, in which participated 86 experts of 28 different countries, analyses how the higher education is involved with Corporate Social Responsibility. In the document are identified the potential conflicts, and is studied the imbalance that is perceived by the universities between the local and global responsibility demands.
Despite being the first edition to make the report available in its portal web for free, a copy of the report was delivered to each assistant at the end of the presentation. Welcome act was presided by Jaume Casals (President of ACUP and GUNI), Manuel Manonelles (General Director of Multilateral and European Affairs of Generalitat de Catalunya) and Arcadi Navarro (Secretary of Universities and Research of Generalitat de Catalunya). The debate about Corporate Social Responsibility had the collaboration of Francesc Xavier Grau, Federico Mayor Zaragoza, John Goddart and Budd Hall. Francesc Grau, academic director of the report, expressed the interest of GUNI to provide more accessibility and diffusion of its future investigations.
