Last Friday, May 5th, came to an end the conference about Information Security in Spanish Universities. The event, that took place at Escola Técnica Superior de Enxeñaría, Campus Vida (Santiago de Compostela), lasted two days and was organised by the Sectoral Comission of IT and Communications which belongs to Crue Universidades Españolas and Universidade de Santiago de Compostela.
Two main topics were discussed on the conference. The first day, about the digital transformation of the universities, was stressed the importance of digital responsibility, to have an institutional strategy where the IT have to be the driving force given that the disgital transformation is a great opportunity for the universities. Later, on the same day, were addressed the problems regarding the adaptation of structures and IT staff to provide a better answer to the demands made by the organizations. The second day of the conference about information security of spanish universites, was presented the Esquema Nacional de Seguridad and were discussed the policies to guarantee fulfillment of the Reglamento General de Protección de Datos from may 2018 and the resources and efforts needed.
