Last January 24th, has taken place at Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site the launch event of the new research portal of CSUC catalan universities. The ceremony has been presided by Miquel Puig, CSUC´s director, Arcadi Navarro, Generalitat’s secretary of universities, Jordi Baget, Generalitat’s counselor of enterprises and knowledge, Jaume Casals, UPF’s dean and ACUP’s chairman and Enric Canel, PRC project coordinator. At the event, have also assisted Chancellors, Vice-chancellors, General Managers and Deputy General Managers as well as research personnel of several universities.
On the event, it has been highlighted the effort made by CSUC and the people involved in the project to be able to visualize all the information related to the research production from several repositories of the catalan universities. Enric Canela, has also remarked the great job that has been made to filter the data and delete duplicates using ORCID, which has contributed to the project success. Besides, Arcadi Navarro, has talked about the vital role of sharing data and how this project provides the visibility necessary for this. The rest of the participants have also referred to the increasing importance of the research data and its visibility.
This is a first stage of the Portal, where it is available all the information from the universities but not the information used by research centers which are also an important part of the scientific production in Catalunya.
SIGMA has been involved on the project from the beginning, taking part on the design as well as on the several pilots made in collaboration with the universities that use SIGMA Research. At SIGMA, we think that initiatives like this project, which gives visibility to the research production, are a great success.
