On Thursday 30 October 2014, the OpenAnalytics 2014 meeting took place in Madrid, held nationwide to those who are dedicated to the exciting world of analytics and data processing with Open Source tools.
SIGMA attended the event where, among the presentations made, there were two remarcables like the Pedro Alves, Senior Vice-President Pentaho Community and specialist in the field of visualization dashboards, which spoke of Business Analytics, "Pentaho Analytics - Innovation though Open Source "; and also, another one by Jorge Ayuso "Analyzing Data with R" on using the R language for performing Data Mining & Machine Learning.
Most papers have the focus to a greater or lesser extent, on the topic of Big Data. On this subject there remains conflicting opinions from the staff who argues that is an area that is still immature, especially the issue of scalability, even one who predicts that sooner or later most organizations end up adopting this paradigm / technology. In our opinion, it is too early for widespread adoption, both costs (hardware and highly specialized human equipment) and the immaturity and dispersion of the underlying technologies.
Those who may have special interest in the subject, you can find the presentations opened by clicking here; and which one by Jorge Ayuso, here. Hope you enjoy!
