Students already use Mobile Apps more often than the web

noticia Apps movils nova

The use of Mobile Apps has increased by 115% during 2013, according to the usage analysis from Flurry specialist firm.

Students at universities are not a special case. They're already using more Mobile Apps to view their gradebooks than the web browser.

As an example, in the access graph of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, we can see how the use of the Gradebook App has been increasing year after year.

As in the rest of the SIGMA consortium universities, the use of that App since its release in late 2011 has increased dramatically, so much so that the 1st quarter of 2014 is already taking over the number of accesses to the website.

We can add that the Mobile App is complementing the website (either from desktop computers or mobile devices), since the latter has not diminished. So we can't forget the continuous improvement of the services that are accessible via the web. Users should be able to access these services at any time, and they do, from more varied devices each time.

When in 2011, in collaboration with SIGMA, universities in the consortium launched the first Mobile App, that adoption level was not guaranteed.

Nowadays students from those universities can download (or will do soon), totally free Apps to view their grades or their PAU grades, as well as for teacher-student messaging, or surveying the assessment of teaching, all through their iOS and Android mobile devices. Downloads are in the increase, accumulating numbers over 140,000 and the number is growing quickly.
