The 13th conference about Current Research Information Systems was celebrated in the Medical and Biological Sciences Building at the University of St. Andrews, a small and beautiful town located on the east side of Scotland, known for the stone-made buildings and its golf club.
The conference programme scheduled several lectures in different buildings, all of them organized in six sessions, including a previous welcome speech by the President of euroCRIS Ed Simons. Some of the topics that were discussed on the conferences were: Interoperability and Architecture, Uses and applications, Indicators, Analytics and Metrics, Research Data and Open Access, Data modelling and Semantics and Classification.
SIGMA was one of the sponsorships of the event, with an informative stand on the main area, where we could explain our organization and what we do. Our colleague, Anna Guillaumet, presented on the 3rd day of the conferences, her paper: ‘’Can machines understand what researchers look for? Conceptualizing the research world’’ where she explained the future of the interaction for the researchers with their available information on internet –Big Data format- through semantic relations that machines can easily process. The presentation grabbed the attention of the audience and had a positive impact on them.
We would like to highlight the high quality of the interventions and the warm welcome reception received at euroCRIS, as well as the nice working environment during the 3 days of the conference.
