The universities of Spain, among the best in the world
With the recent publication of the ranking The Times, we reach the sixth university quality ranking in so far this year. The different six rankings (ARWU, CWUR, QS, CWTS, HEEACT and THE) measure up which are the best university centers among the 12.000 existing in the world, focusing in different topics each.
The spanish university system fits well in a worldwide scenario. Between the position 71 and 166 (according to HEEACT, CWUR, CWTS or QS) we can find the Universitat de Barcelona, considered the best university in Spain for the major part of the indicators. The Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, is also well positioned, in the position 146 in the world by THE ranking. Also the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid excels in mathematics, reaching the position 51-75 in the world, in accordance to ARWU ranking. The Universitat Pompeu Fabra, which celebrated this year their 25th anniversary, presents good marks in university quality (position 164 in THE ranking, or 285 in ARWU ranking). In the same way, the Universidad de Zaragoza (position 312 in CWTS ranking) and the Universidad Pública de Navarra (265 in QS) obtain very good qualifications..
At a state level, the ARWU ranking, considered the most prestigious due to their objectivity, positions Spain in the number 21 in the list of states and university quality, between Singapore and South Korea.
